5. A bit about me.

A wife and mother to two grown-up sons, my career pre family was as an accountant working in the City of London. Accountancy has given me the skills I need to run businesses, and over the years I have had businesses selling children’s books and greetings cards as well as my many roles as a mother.

Moving to the USA in 2006 without a work visa meant I needed to fill my days. My parents were artists, so I had chosen accountancy rather than compete with them, but art was/is in my soul. Encouraged by amazing teachers over there, on my return to the UK I took a foundation diploma and began a fine art degree course.

My life is hectic. Since returning to the UK in 2012 I have moved house three times. Two of those properties needed quite a lot of work done to them, indeed we are currently updating the kitchen in our current house and whilst that is going on we also had other rooms decorated, too.
It has been chaos.

I organise a small group of artist friends, Ginger Cactus Art, by running exhibitions and a website showing all their amazing work. If you feel inspired to do so, then please click on the link to our website: https://www.gingercactusart.com/

As a practicing artist myself, I take part in exhibitions, competitions and gallery events throughout the year. I also teach students in my home studio as well as teaching and demoing to art groups in and around the southeast of England. The classes I teach are many and varied: I will add a list below in case you would like to join one of my sessions.

I am still struggling to get to grips with social media. I know it can help me reach more people and I am about to try a new approach (who said you can’t teach an old dog new tricks?). I will let you know if this is successful later in the year.

I absolutely love what I do. Creating any form of art gives me so much pleasure I can’t describe it. I think I would go mad if I were not able to do it anymore, but I do other things, too.

I enjoy sewing, reading, theatre, classical music and TV crime programmes.
